Cryptanthus Acaulis Variegata is a rare species and many would consider it very attractive. Cryptanthus are more commonly known as Earth Stars, a name they received because of the shape of their foliage. Cryptanthus Acaulis Variegata is one of the several thousand species of diverse, stunning and elegant bromeliads. Bromeliads have amazing array of shapes, sizes, textures, blooms and growing habits, these are one of the wonderful ornamental houseplants. Cryptanthus are easy care, shade loving and drought tolerant houseplants, prefer to grow in extremely dry environment and deserts. These are air purifier plants and known to be radiation absorbers, it is recommended to keep Cryptanthus plants near the handsets, laptops, computers, printers, ovens or other radiators to reduce the harmful effects.

Flowering season: Summer

Planting Media: Soilrite mix would be a perfect planting medium for all kinds of plants.  If required pebbles (1-1.5cm) can be added to the mix to make sure the planting medium is well drained.

Water: Cryptanthus thrive in humid conditions, and you should make efforts to keep them moist. However, most bromeliads are fairly tolerant of drought conditions. Make sure, however, not to rest them in standing water. A moderately damp environment is moisture enough for these plants.

Sunlight: Different Cryptanthus varieties need different levels of light, but most plants within this genus will generally thrive in some sort of indirect sunlight or light shade—remember, they naturally grow under the cover of trees in rainforests. Direct sunlight could potentially bleach the bromeliad foliage, or make it appear leathery.
