Echinocactus grusonii also known as Golden Barrel Cactus, commonly known as mother-in-law’s cushion is usually a single slowly growing globe-shaped cactus. It stands out especially due to its golden spines, which form a beautiful contrast to the lush green of the cactus’ body.

Flowering Season: The golden barrel cacti will produce vivid yellow flowers and form a circular ring at the top of the plant which can be seen in summer.

Planting Media: Use soilrite mix thoroughly mixed with sand and pebbles (1-1.5cm). The soil mixture must be well drained.

Water: The golden barrel cactus is able to handle longer periods of dryness very well. Do not overwater and let their soil dry out between watering.

Sunlight: Plenty of sunshine will keep this cactus happier. During hot summers provide some shade to prevent sunburn.
