About:
Pachypodium lamerei is a species of flowering plant in the family Apocynaceae. It is a stem succulent, photosynthesizing mainly through its trunk. It has large thorns and leaves mostly just at the top of the plant, and large, fragrant flowers. The leaves are long, slender and green. During the winter, it will shed most of its leaves, only to regrow them in the spring. The species has become one of the best known pachypodiums in cultivation, being relatively easy to propagate and grow. It is commonly known as the Madagascar Palm.
Flowering Season: The flowers appear anytime between the middle of spring to summer.
Planting Media: Use soilrite mix thoroughly mixed with sand and pebbles (1-1.5cm). The soil mixture must be well drained.
Water: Pachypodium lamerei “Madagascar Palm” has typical watering needs for a succulent. It’s best to use the “soak and dry” method, and allow the soil to dry out completely between watering. We need to water more during the hotter summer months. Cut back on watering in the winter when the leaves have fallen off.
Sunlight: Pachypodium lamerei likes full sun. They can handle partial shade but thrives during the summer in indirect sunlight.
