About:
Mammillaria plumosa also known as golf ball cactus or feather cactus, has beautiful white feathery looking spines that are so soft and fluffy, it makes it one of the friendliest of all cacti. The “feathers” not only add interest to the cactus, but they also shade the plant from heat and sun. . While they look cute and cuddly, you still want to handle with care as there are some sharp spines hidden under the feathery ones.
Flowering Season: Its flowers range from white to yellow to pink, and although in some areas they can bloom throughout the year, typical flowering occurs during spring.
Planting Media: Use soilrite mix thoroughly mixed with sand and pebbles (1-1.5cm). The soil mixture must be well drained.
Water: Water the soil and avoid getting too much on the plant, then allow the soil to dry completely before watering again. They require very little water.
Sunlight: It prefers full sun to partial shady places. Mammillaria Plumosa requires very high light conditions. They can get sunburned so transition your cacti slowly into a high light to partial shade area.
