About:
Grafting is a straightforward method of propagation which comprises some of our favorite plants due to their uniqueness of form and unusual characteristics. Cactus grafts are novelties formed by grafting scions with interesting shapes or colors on to an easy to root cactus rootstock. The process also helps in producing disease-free stems, to provide a new stem for an existing stem that is rotting or to enhance photosynthesis in plants that lack the ability.
Planting Media: Use soilrite mix thoroughly mixed with sand and pebbles (1-1.5cm). The soil mixture must be well drained.
Water: Grafting usually require a moderate amount of water. Keep the potting mixture just barely moist and mist on the foliage on a regular basis should be enough. In spring and summer keep the soil mix barely moist and check that water drains properly. In fall and winter limit the wateringand wait for the soil to be thoroughly dry before watering again.
Note: While watering we need to make sure the scions don’t get wet as it can cause to rot if moisture is retained by it.
Sunlight: It prefers bright, indirect light or moderate shade natural light. Direct sunlight will scorch the grafts and damage the scions.
