Nephrolepis exaltata, commonly called sword fern, belongs to a species of fern in Lomariopsidaceae family. It is an evergreen fern that grows with an upright spreading habit to 3′ tall and as wide. The fern can grow up to 7 inches tall. The fronds of Nephrolepis exaltata are 50–250 centimeters long and 6–15 centimeters broad, with alternate pinnae (the small “leaflets” on either side of the midrib), each pinna being 2–8 centimeters long.

Planting Media: Soilrite mix would be a perfect planting medium for all kinds of plants. If required pebbles (1-1.5cm) can be added to the mix to make sure the planting medium is well drained.
Water: Be careful to make sure that the sword ferns root bale never dries out completely it will need plenty of water during dry seasons. Other times you can water the fern frequently just to make sure the soil does not completely dry out. Avoid over watering as water logging can lead to root rot.
Sunlight: It prefers filtered light. It does very well in shady parts of your garden.
