Achimenes species are known by many common names such as Magic Flowers, Widow’s Tears, Cupid’s Bowers, and Hot Water Plants. Achimenes are related to the familiar Victorian favorites, African violets, and this variety exhibits similar coloring as some of these gems. Achimenes Cattleya is one of the cultivar of Achimenes species which produces sporting blue-violet flowers with lighter throats. Cattleya achimenes look cool and fresh on the hottest summer day. This cultivar is an excellent choice for hanging baskets and spills nicely from the rim of a large ceramic pot.

Planting Media: Use ordinary garden soil thoroughly mulched with sand and well decayed cow manure. The soil must be well drained.

Pot culture: Use 6 inches pot to plant 10 bulbs keeping even spaces between them for proper growth.
