About:
Cereus peruvianus monstrose is a tree-like cactus which grows in a multi-branched candelabra shape. Individual stems are gray-blue to gray-green and deeply ribbed. The ‘Monstrose’ form has a twisting undulating pattern to the stem ribs which gives it a unique presence.
Flowering Season: It blooms mainly in summer with large (6-7 inches in diameter), exotic, white to pinkish white flowers that open in the evening and remain open into the next day.
Planting Media: Use soilrite mix thoroughly mixed with sand and pebbles (1-1.5cm). The soil mixture must be well drained.
Water: Water thoroughly during the active growth period from spring to fall. Make sure to allow the soil to dry out before watering again. During winter when the cactus is dormant give them just enough water to prevent them from shrinking.
Sunlight: Cereus peruvianus monstrose like full sun. They can handle partial shade but thrives during the summer in indirect sunlight. Plants started in lower light levels should be allowed to acclimate to full sun to avoid sunburn.
