Hedychium greenii also known as ‘Red butterfly ginger’ is a small to medium sized ginger, usually growing only 3 ft tall, but sometimes up to 4 or 5 ft if grown in optimal conditions. The foliage is very attractive, reddish-purple stems and undersides of leaves and dark green on the upper sides of the leaves. The flowers are bright red but the flower heads are smaller than many other Hedychiums but have no scent. It is an excellent variety of bulbous plant used for landscaping in cooler areas.

Planting Media: Use ordinary garden soil thoroughly mulched with sand and well decayed cow manure. The soil must be well drained.
Water: Water regularly and thoroughly whenever the surface of soil is dry. Keep the soil moist and avoid overwatering.
Sunlight: It prefers full sunlight but can also be kept in partly shaded place of your garden.
Pot culture: Use a 12 inches pot to plant one rhizome for proper growth.
