About:
Kleinia Petraea also known as Senecio Jacobsenii (Weeping Jade) is a creeping succulent plant from the Asteraceae or Compositae family. It has thick stems and flat, egg-shaped leaves which displays a creeping growth habit, forming a network of roots as it spreads along the ground. The leaves are green, fleshy, and grow up to 3” inches. They are arranged along the stems in an overlapping pattern, somewhat like shingles. When grown in hanging baskets, the plant can form a long and dense cascade of up to 4’ feet long.
Planting Media: Use soilrite mix thoroughly mixed with sand and pebbles (1-1.5cm). The soil mixture must be well drained.
Water: The best way to water succulents is with the “soak and dry” method. Soak the soil completely then let the soil dry out completely before watering again. And make sure the succulents are in a well draining soil in a pot with a drainage hole.
For indoor succulents, it is generally best if water doesn’t get on top of the leaves. If it sits on a leaf for too long it can cause rot. This isn’t as much of an issue for outdoor succulents because there is more airflow and the water will dry out quicker.
Sunlight: Weeping jade enjoys full sun, but also grows well in part shade. The plant, in fact, appreciates some shade on very hot summer days.
