Crinum menehune is a short herbaceous perennial that grows from bulbs and forms clumps. It is thought to originate from a cross between Crinum amabile and a Crinum species from the Caribbean. It has dark purplish red, glossy leaves are strap-shaped with pointed leaf apex and entire leaf margin (2.5 – 5 cm wide). They have a slightly pleated leaf surface and are arranged in a rosette. It produces dark pink flowers have 6 narrow, linear petals that are bent backwards and 7 – 8 red, long stamens. Flowers are arranged in an umbellate inflorescence (several stalked flowers united at the base to a single point). The inflorescence is borne on a thick, dark red stalk.

Planting Media: Use ordinary garden soil thoroughly mulched with sand and well decayed cow manure. The soil must be well drained.
Water: Crinum requires average watering on a regular basis in a week. Avoid over watering.
Sunlight: It does well in full morning sunlight but can also tolerate partly shady places. Avoid extreme heat.
Pot culture: Use 10 inches pot for planting one bulb for proper growth.
