Tradescantia spathacea (Moses in the Cradle) plant has many alternative names such as Moses-in-a-Boat, Boat Lily, Cradle Lily, Moses-in-the-Bullrushes, and Oyster plant. It is a tropical sculptural herbaceous perennial houseplant that works well in containers but must be brought inside during cold winters.  It is desired for its unusual inflorescence and attractive foliage. It has dark-green, lance-shaped leaves with purplish-red undersides make this a beautiful house plant year-round.

Planting Media: Soilrite mix would be a perfect planting medium for all kinds of plants.  If required pebbles (1-1.5cm) can be added to the mix to make sure the planting medium is well drained.

Water: Keep soil evenly moist spring through fall. In winter, allow the potting medium to dry out slightly between watering.

Sunlight: Grow your plant in bright, indirect light year-round for good foliage color and flowers. It will tolerate lower light, but the leaves will be more green than purple. Keep it out of hot, midday sun.
